Not one for self indulgent posts, but this weekend I achieved something I was very proud of.. A hole in One.. it's been over 20 years since I last had one.
For non-golfers, this may not seem that exciting, a non-golfer might say, "you aim for the little hole, so surely its just part of the game?"
Yes, we aim for the little hole every time we stand on the tee, but a number of factors come into play when aiming for that little hole:
1. You have to know how to get to the target ie, right club, good swing etc
2. You have to understand the external factors, ie, wind direction, slope on the green etc to help you aim
3. You need to have some luck ie, a good bounce on the green
Without wishing to kill the mood, sounds a bit like setting either business or personal goals. Persistently aiming for the "little hole" with the right knowledge, skills and a bit of luck will eventually give you the results you want.
For an amateur golfer it's a 12,500 to 1 chance to get a hole in one, for a professional it's a 2,500 to 1 chance... the difference.. professional golfers practice loads and have coaches to help them.
